AMTC is an event hosted by Millie Lewis, the company. The Millie Lewis Company was started in 1960 by legendary covergirl, Millie Lewis. Millie was approached in her hometown of Columbia, SC, to help young girls improve their appearance and develop self-esteem. Thus began the Millie Lewis Modeling/ Finishing Schools & Agencies, which expanded through South Carolina and Georgia. Mrs. Lewis helped write the licensing requirements for modeling schools in the State of South Carolina.

To separate Millie Lewis, the company, from Millie Lewis, the model, is almost impossible. As a former New York model, Millie appeared in such magazines as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Life. She was featured in Women’s Wear Daily as the Best Dressed Director in the Modeling Association of America. Ms. Lewis was a member of the New York Fashion Group, American Women in Radio and TV, was published in “Personalities of the South,” “Who’s Who in Women of the World.” She hosted three radio shows. Millie was a leader in the local civil rights movement of the 1960’s and taught courses at USC, Allen, and Benedict Colleges. More than 50 feature stories were written about her. Mrs. Lewis devoted herself to helping others make the most of themselves and gave tirelessly of her time to charity and civic events.
