Confessions of a Photographer - Shooting at High Noon Video

It can be a nightmare. Your client can only meet you 1:00 p.m., and you know the lighting will be harsh and cruel. Gotta love those raccoon eyes…lol NOT Let’s take a look and see how photographer Bert Stefani from Belgium handles these conditions.

  • This is a great tip… easy to use lighting option/solution.
    Thanks for posting it.

  • Wow…thank you so much for posting this! I have a shoot next week at 11am and was just about to panic after scouting the locations today and cheking out the light! One question…on the flash you used for the backlighting with the long snoot. It appeared to be placed on a very tall stand and shot well above the subject. Am I correct in what I saw? Also, did you fire the flash at full output, or is it just one of htose thing where you just have to experiment in each location?

    Thanks!

  • Glad you guys enjoyed it!

Kristi, Bert Stefani did the video. I’m still trying to master the beast of outdoor flash, so I have no tips on that one, but was wondering the same thing about the settings.

  • We LOVE outdoor flash! It looks like in this vid he’s using the old school Pocketwizard. We’re using the new Pocketwizards that automatically switch your flashes over to high speed sync when your shutter speed goes high enough. AMAZING!
